The Scoop: The post that started a conversation I wasn't expecting

Reader,

I posted something on LinkedIn today, and I wasn't totally sure how it would land.

It was about AI, and more specifically, about the costly mistake I watch founders make with it.

Too often, women are using it to try and answer the big, hard, deeply personal questions about their business that it was never actually designed to answer.

There were a ton of great comments, all who recognized, in some form, that we all do this, and how challenging it is to navigate these big questions for ourselves.

When your business is bumping up against the max of what it can or was intended to do, it's almost always preceded by this jumbled up ball of feelings. I see that as a sign that something is trying to surface and it needs space, time, and the right kind of thought partnership to allow it to bubble to the top with some measure of clarity.

Someone asked me a question in the comments that I want to answer more fully here, because I think it's important.

If AI isn't the right tool for this kind of work, then what is?

Well, first, it's not a tool. It's a human.

People often accuse me of being anti-AI. I'm not, but I rarely find it helps with the kind of rich, deep thinking this moment requires.

My friend and colleague Jeni B. said it perfectly in the comments: "That internal echo chamber sure is muddy when you add other people's LLM [Large Language Model] input to it. The magic is simply in talking through things with a seasoned veteran. And this is something AI will never be able to replicate, simply because of how LLMs work. Your clients get the very best because of your deep kindness and attunement to what's going on, mixed with your commitment to sharp insight, strategy, and truth-telling."

Having a strategic thought partner, someone who is part coach-part consultant-part strategist-part ideator, someone who can ask the question underneath the question and hold the thread you can't see from inside it, is what actually moves the needle.

I'm not saying that in a self promotional kind of way. I know because I've been in this exact place more than once personally, and I've seen it time and again over the last two decades with my own clients.

It's really hard to reach out for help when you think you should be able to figure it out on your own. Almost always though, it's a real conversation with someone who can see what you can't see from inside it that changes everything.

If you've been sitting with that jumbled feeling and reaching for things that aren't getting you there, I'd genuinely love to talk. You can grab a free call with me here.
