Reader,
I recently rewatched Wicked with my husband and daughter before we went to watch the sequel.
We got to that scene... the one with Elphaba on the balcony, Glinda pleading with her, the tension thick as the music swells...
If you’ve seen it, you know the moment.
Elphaba looks out over Oz, breathless, heart pounding, every part of her caught between who she’s been told to be… and who she’s becoming... who she WANTS to become.
The music softens, she steps forward, and sings, “Something has changed within me…”
I swear, the room fell away.
That line, that turning point, is exactly what it feels like when a business owner realizes the business she built has to change.
It's jarring when you've hit every milestone you once prayed for, done the things you had planned to do, and built a business that works on paper.
But if you're like me and many of the female founders I work with, the longer you're on this journey, you realize something inside you has shifted. It was probably quiet at first, but with each passing you day, it grows more insistent.
Just like Elphaba, you start to feel that inner pull toward something truer, more aligned, and more you.
In that balcony moment, Elphaba finally decides to trust her own instincts.
She closes her eyes and leaps!
That is the heart of this week’s blog and podcast episode, the final piece in my Friction of Success series. We dig into:
-
How and why conviction is the new growth strategy for high-achieving founders.
-
What leadership looks like when you stop playing the old game and start building your own.
- Why the internal shift always precedes the external change.
If you’ve been feeling like “something has changed within me,” you’re going to feel deeply seen in this one.
And if you’re standing on your own version of that balcony, knowing you’ve outgrown the old but not yet sure how to step into the new, know that you don’t have to leap alone.
